April 2014 Favorites

Wow. I know a lot of people say things like this but HOW is it May already??? Seems like only a couple of weeks ago that I came back from NY but that was over 3 months ago! Today, I have 6 of my favorite polishes from April for you.

*click to englarge!*

On April 1st, I wore Femme Fatale Ruby Hare.

On April 8th, I wore this mani with Cirque Alter Ego and
Too Fancy Lacquer Mistletoe because my niece, Lily, told
me to wear green and black nail polish.

On April 10th, I wore Elevation Polish Aconcagaua.

On April 14th, I wore Northern Star Polish Janus Rising.

On April 18th, I wore Enchanted Polish March 2014.

On April 26th, I wore Sonoma Nail Art Sonoma Sunset

What are your favorite polishes that you wore this month? I'm favoring indie holos, as you can tell, at the moment. I'm kinda obsessed.

Sonoma Nail Art Science Experiment

Yesterday I go an EPIC package from my friend, Tina, who was sending over some polish for me and she also sent me some amazing extras.

Sonoma Science Experiment, China Glaze Strap On Your Moonboots & Infa Red
Dior Colorvision Lilac, Chanel Taboo, Illamasqua Harem & Fragile
Julie G (if it has a name, I can't find it haha) Maybelline Intense Teal & Passionate Plum

I was really, really impatiently waiting for Taboo after seeing all the amazing swatches around. But once it got  here, I decided that since all my friends had already done Taboo swatches, I'd try the Sonoma instead. Here, I have it layered over Illamasqua Smash. Sorry for the poor cleanup but I really don't like doing cleanup. At all.

I LOVE this polish. I love all the Sonomas that I have. And they have an amazing wear time as well. They've always lasted at least 5 days on me.

Sonoma Nail Art polishes can be purchased at this Etsy shop. Like the Facebook page to get updates for new shop opening and new products.

Halloween in the Vines

Today I have for you Sonoma Nail Art Halloween in the Vines (HITV) over Sinful Colors Winterberry. When I got HITV a few weeks ago, I was trying  to figure out what to layer it over and I couldn't decide, so I left it. I put on Winterberry (that my friend Ana sent over to me!) and after I'd had it on for a day, I realized it'd be awesome with HITV and I was completely right. FYI, this was after 4 days. The wear on Sonoma polishes are amazing. They last AGES on me. I probably could have gotten away with a couple more days but I banged my thumb somehow and ended up with a break :(

Winterberry is amazing and I'm really upset I didn't get a picture of it but the sun wasn't out the couple of days I had it on without HITV, so no picture for you :( HITV was a little difficult to work with but not as bad as other indies. I had to use the "dab" method. That's what I call it, not sure what it's really called. It's basically just laying the whole brush of glitter down on your nail, instead of just the end of the brush, and then moving the glitter around. This way you end up with more glitter at once and you don't have to use 123397 layers. I topped it with 2 coats of Seche Vite.

Dior Purple Mix and Sonoma Sunset

Today I have for you Dior Purple Mix and Sonoma Nail Art Sonoma Sunset. Purple Mix was a little bit darker than I thought it would be and I wasn't completely happy with the darkness. Not sure if it was just the gloomy weather that made it look so dark or what but instead of taking it off, I decided to put Sonoma Sunset over it! I tried Sonoma Sunset a few weeks ago over Illamasqua Wink (pale purple) and I was not happy with the combo at all. In fact, I took it off before it was even dry (luckily I'd only done 4 fingers). I couldn't quite decide what I didn't like about it but after looking at swatches when I came back from Scotland, I decided that I liked the look of it a lot more over a dark purple then a light purple.

Overall, I really loved this combo. It's amazing! And I had to show off my pendants because I think they went perfectly with these colors. The heart Gary got for me on Stratford-upon-Avon when we went for my birthday day out. I got the thistle pendant (to replace one that I lost) when we went to Stirling Castle in Scotland a few weeks ago.

My friend, Jacki, over at Adventures in Acetone posted her Sonoma Sunset mani today. Here's what her mani looks like. I love her combo! So much better than a pale purple!

Not sure about the availability of Purple Mix in the states but you can purchase it at Boots in the UK. Sonoma Nail Art is another indie that is difficult to get a hold of and only has occasional restocks on etsy. Go like her Facebook page for updates and here is her etsy shop.

3 Week Long Haul Post.

I have another haul post. I was in Scotland for a week and I haven't felt up to doing a haul post until now. Here's some beautiful polish and a cosmetic bag.

This is a nail polish cosmetic bag!! I thought about this before I went to
Scotland and found some online. I've never seen anything like this before.
I think it works okay. I think it might be better if it had a solid bottom and sides.
The partitions in the middle are removable and are solid enough when they're in the bag
but they feel really flimsy when you're putting them in the bag and I felt like they were going to rip.

Nails Inc Park Lane, Primrose Hill, Pembroke Close and Endinburgh Gate.
Just noticed all the purple polishes start with P! How weird is that?

Dior Czarina Gold and Purple Mix.

Sonoma Nail Art Sonoma Sunset and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Kiko 397, 235, 300 and 298.

Top Shop Nails Razzmatazz and Ice Crush.

Glitter Gal Light As A Feather and Hits Dreamer

NailVenturous Robin Laid An Egg

The cosmetic bag was purchased at Roo Beauty and were pretty reasonably priced. They do ship internationally but it does cost a lot since they use a courier instead of Royal Mail.

I have been placing a lot of Nails Inc orders lately to help out numerous people on Facebook. They've gone crazy over it! Park Lane and Edingburgh Gate were purchased at QVC when the set was on sale a few weeks ago. I didn't like the other two the came in the set so I've put those aside the sell. Primrose Hill and Pembroke Close came from the Nails Inc site.

I got Dior Czarina Gold from Amazon but they have since sold out. I got Dior Purple Mix from Boots.

I got the Sonoma Nail Art polishes from my friend Ana. For more info on this brand, check out my blog post here.

Kiko is an Italian brand and can be parchased here in the UK. There are a few stores in London that sell them but I don't live near London.

I purchased the Top Shop polishes at my local Top Shop. I don't think they sell the polishes in the smaller stores but I've only ever been in Top Shop twice in the 9 years I've lived here. Don't take me on my word there. They can be purchased online here.

I purchased Glitter Gal and Hits from Llarowe.

My friend Sheila, from Pointless Cafe, sent me the NailVenturous because she loves me and she knows that I've been NEEDING it for ages and ages and kept missing it when the NailVenturous shop opened.

That might be way too much information ;)

20,000 Leagues Under The Sea

Today I have for you an amazing combination. I think the fact that I have had this on for 5 days and that these pictures were taken on the fifth day, shows you just how amazing it is. This is ManGlaze ILF and Sonoma Nail Art 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Love the little Octopus!!

Little Momoo loves this polish as well!

ManGlaze polishes are all matte. I didn't get a picture of this beforehand but it's amazing. The formula is perfect and I had no problem at all with application. They can be purchased at Amazon and from ManGlaze's Facebook page. Sonoma Nail Art polishes are an indie brand and a little harder to get a hold of. Check out her Facebook page for updates for when her shop will be open and here is her blog. She also sells through a boutique in Sonoma County called Tallulah. You can call them and see if they'd be willing to ship to you. I know of a few ladies who have done this. Lil Momoo is from Little Lazies. They can be purchased at her etsy shop and here is her Facebook page.
